Moon Kuijper

'My Mess'

Long story short

Moon Kuijper is an Amsterdam based artist whose work grows out of intuition, observation and a deep curiosity for what moves people. Under the name my mess, she creates abstract paintings and sculptural pieces that arise from the quiet in-betweens of life: the thoughts you almost forgot, the colours you feel before you see them, the moments that slip through your fingers if you don’t pay attention.

Moon’s work is layered yet open. Emotional without explanation. Her canvases often begin as a question rather than an intention, and grow into compositions that carry traces of memory, tenderness and disruption. She paints the way she thinks: associative, sensitive, with a soft chaos that reveals its own logic over time.

Beyond the canvas, Moon explores form through objects, textiles and small sculptural experiments. These pieces share the same language as her paintings: the search for beauty inside imperfection, the desire to hold something fleeting, the gentle tension between control and surrender.

Her background in design and her work with MNDAY shaped her sense of space, storytelling and materiality - but my mess is where she lets go of structure and returns to instinct. Each piece is an invitation to slow down, to look a little longer, to feel what usually stays unspoken.

Moon’s art is not about perfection. It’s about presence.
